Penny4NASA

I’m a big booster of space exploration and science exploration in general.  Of course it seems NASA gets ignored a lot – they get 0.48% of the US government budget.  Think about that.

Fortunately, Penny4NASA is there to promote citizen involvement.  They’d be happy with 1% and I say go for it.

Their site provides resources to get active, information on what NASA does for us, and more.

You know what to do.

Google Takes On The Gender Gap With “Made With Code”

The demographics of tech are pretty white and male, but Google and a huge alliance are looking to get more girls coding, reports the Mary Sue.

You can see more at the Google Blog and of course the website.

I strongly applaud this.  Coding is literacy of a technical age, and everyone should know something about it.  Addressing demographic issues in distributions of knowledge is part of having a functional society and civilization.

A few things you can do:

  • Host an event.
  • Be a mentor
  • Invite these people to your con or club.
  • Promote this!

Medikidz Needs Artists!

A project to discuss health issues via comics, the Medikidz team are recruiting.

So of course I’m mentioning them here.  And of course, I asked them for an interview.

The basic idea intrigues me because it takes me back to “Timer” and his ventures inside the human body back in the ancient 70’s.  An idea worth reviving.

Though kinda odd later as he pitched for cheese, but hey.
