Go Farther: Geek Job Search Groups

I want to make a proposal to you, my fellow progeeks and hopeful progeeks who are looking for work.

I've known and been coaching many people who are doing job searches.  They are inevitably doing it on their own, often feeling alone, or tired.  Few have job search support for various reasons, from not thinking about it to having trouble finding people who understand their interests.

I think it's time for you to form fandom/geekdom/otakudom-oriented job search groups and help each other out.

The Benefits of Blogging: Learning Again

I've been blogging here for going on three years (man, has it been that long?) and it's been been pretty informative. So, since I'm in a bit of a nostalgic mood as the third anniversary approaches, I wanted to share some of my insights on blogging with my fellow progeeks.

I often advise people to try blogging – sure it's not for everyone, but I find it's very useful to pursue, because if it is for you, you'll gain a lot of benefits. So, don't take this as pressuring you towards blogging, but I want to share an interesting professional benefit about blogging as I do–on careers and so forth.

Fear Of Failure Is A Sign Of Genius

Oh you sit there, looking over your great ideas, looking over your wonderful career plans, and you think about all the mistakes are likely to make and all the things will go wrong. Have wonderful ideas, creative ideas, wild ideas–yet, what if they fail?
