A Bit Of An Update

Things got crazy-busy lately, as you may have guessed.  Slowly getting my head above water, so let’s do a roundup.

  • The print books of the Fanart and Cosplay Focused Fandom books are formatted – but I’m waiting for them to reach their “final” state.  It’s a bit complex.
  • I am looking into returning to vLogs – mostly because I can just use Keynote’s record function and make them fast and easy and fun.  It’ll be less spectacular, but also easier!
  • There will be a podcast coming up from me and some friends – stay tuned!
  • The newsletter has been scaled back to more a general update since most people didn’t seem to want a large newsletter anymore.

Whew, think I caught everything!

Yeah, Yeah, I Couldn’t Resist

Well, I had to post on the Sim City Launch Disaster.  I couldn’t resist.

I mean seriously, this was stupid.  The DRM concept is stupid.  The software-as-a-service model has merit, but not like this.  This just . . . happened.

Pretty much between this and the Deadspace Microtransactions I’ve lost about any interest in an EA game.

One More Stop To Print!

Well as noted I’ve been working on print copies of Focused Fandom: Cosplay, Costuming, and Careers and Focused Fandom: Fanart, Fanartists, and Careers.  The good news is my prototype print copies are in the mail, and I should get to look them over next week!

It wasn’t as easy as I thought – since I haven’t queued up a print book in about a year.  But frankly, I think I should have earlier.

As much as eBooks are a big thing, books like these are also gifts – and giving eBooks really isn’t quite the same.  I have to remember an audience is bigger than . . . the audience.

Also books that are physical leave a legacy.  It’s something people can keep, treasure, and remember.

Hang in there, if the review goes well then I just have one more test print to confirm it’s good, and we’re there . . .
