Steve’s Update 1/19/2014

Hello everyone.  What’s up?  Well . . . too much.

  • Post Crossroads Alpha I’ve been posting on my sites about what we’re doing, which takes a surprising amount of time.
  • Editing the next book of course, which got a wee bit behind.  I’m trying to read it backwards and that is an amazing way to edit work, but it takes time.  It just catches a lot.  This is going to be good – but definitely won’t be out in March.
  • Working on a new generator at Seventh Sanctum, to make magical guilds.  The initial request was more specific based off of an anime called Fairy Tail, but the list of guilds there inspired me to make this broader.  It’s also another generator that’s making me look closer at language.
  • Work of course.  I don’t think I’ve even had time to game on Steam or anything except for a few minutes.
  • Resume coaching.  Just did a rough draft resume for a client.
  • Preparing for AODSF.

You get the idea.

Now one important thing on my next book.  I’m going to take a book writing a few months both to relax and still work on that theme – geek charities/citizenship/causes isn’t quite coming together for me yet.  I also am seriously thinking of rolling up past works in more accessible formats like I did to create some of my eBooks, or just make them more accessible.  So consider my next plans still brewing, but no start – or stop – date yet.

Steve’s Update 1/13/2014

Here’s what’s up with me gang!

The first piece of news is a group thing – several friends and I teamed up to create an alliance of sites called Crossroads Alpha.  We’ve been sharing talent for awhile, but now what we’re doing is making it public, with a crossover site, a shared news feed, and more plans to come!  So go visit and go visit the allied sites: Comics Bulletin, Indie Haven, Muse Hack, and Seventh Sanctum.  The last two are probably familiar to you.

First, yes, still editing the Next Book.  Returning from the holidays was a bit busy, so I’m definitely seeing this one coming out in March.  I also got the cover art in and WOW is all I can say.

Seventh Sanctum‘s latest poll yielded me a lot of great information, so stay tuned over there.  I also hope we’ll have some new additions to the writing . . .

I’ve also got some cooking experiments you’ll hear more about later, so stay tuned.

Steve’s Update 1/5/2014

Whew!  Busy time over the holidays – and by busy I mean I goofed off a lot, kind of.  I also got a lot done at the same time, so it was an odd mix.  One thing that did slide is my updates, and here’s what’s up!

  • The next book is in the last editing phase.  The cover is done.  So I’ve got one more edit to do – I print it out in rough and go over it physically – and then I can start formatting it for print.  Still looking like March right now.  I think you’ll be pleased . . . and wait until you see the cover!
  • You’ll see a few more Way With Worlds here – but then they’ll be over at . . . the new Seventh Sanctum Codex!  I’ve added codex.seventhsanctum.com, a subdomain that contains a content system so I can post updated, columns, and more, and I’m looking for contributors!  I want to add a bit more to the Sanctum to help authors and artists out.
  • My Focused Fandom: Cosplay, Costuming, and Career just sold more copies than Fan To Pro, my flagship book.  Holiday sales were definitely up, and a lot were physical books.  Big lesson is some books make good gift books and I think eBooks have their limits, at least for some titles. Anyone think my smaller job booklets would be good as a physical book?
  • Over at the Informotron, I updated my list of Geeky Professional Associations.  I plan to work on adding more resources to this and other sites I work on to help people out.
  • I have some more work with Seventh Sanctum and MuseHack coming up.  Stay tuned . . .
  • Starbound, even in crude beta, is very addictive.  Just figured you should know that.
