Seventh Sanctum Update: 11/15/2013

OK so the site launch looks successful.  Only two things have come up:

  • Some people want to see the blue return.  So I’d like to know what you think.
  • Depending on the scale the view can get a bit crowded.  I can tweak this over time, but my goal was to optimize use of space and device scaling.  So if anyone has specific suggestions (make this better padded, etc.) I can prototype them to see if they work.

But we appear to be good!  Thanks everyone!

Steve’s Update 11/11/2013

So got a lot going on!

As you saw, my new press site, The Informotron, has just launched.  It’s been quite a ride, and frankly rewriting it in Bootstrap was pretty educational.  I also want to update more of the resources – a lot easier with one consolidated site.  So stay tuned.

My next Newsletter comes out soon – it’s my usual monthly update of my projects, what I’m doing now, and various thoughts on the subjects I write on.  Be sure to subscribe.  It’s my way to get a bit more detailed and have a more personal chat with people, so like reaching out this way.

Seventh Sanctum‘s update is coming soon, so keep an eye out!  The beta is still here if you want to see it, but post-launch it’ll redirect to the main site.  Next up, some new generators and community building, and perhaps a few other features.  Of course I also have to get time, so my impression is I may be doing a lot over the Holidays . . .

The next book will probably not be announced now until it’s publishing date, or close to it since let’s just say I want proper impact, and to plan a few things.  So you’ll have to wait a little longer.   I will be evaluating several related book and writing projects around the new year.

As for blogging, at MuseHack I’m going to start focusing more on in-depth ideas with my work on geek citizenship, careers, etc. along with the interviews.  I want to make sure I keep focused on some useful advice and deep analysis, so you may see a slight shift in tone, as well as focusing on columns.  Though “Make It So” is probably going to still be spewing out crazy-enough-to-work-ideas.

I should (hopefully) be reprinting and doing some work at other sites.  Stay tuned . . .

So that’s it for me.  What’s up with you?

Introducing Informotron Press!

When I first started writing I didn’t know how much the writing bug would bite me – so I had several websites for my books.  Over time I consolidated them because, well, it was hard to maintain, a bit useless, and didn’t let me really leverage what I was doing.  So, finally, all my books are consolidated under my new imprint:

Informotron Press.

It’s all written in Bootstrap (which is what I rewrote Seventh Sanctum in), and in fact the Sanctum rewrite made this go much faster.  Frankly, the whole Bootstrap thing is working for me – and the relatively standard, scaling layouts really do work.  Bootstrap isn’t just a tool, it’s got good practices built into it.

So now, when you send your friends and family to my books (hey, Christmas is coming . . . ), they can find out about all the other books available.  Best of all, when I post my various resources I can make sure more people get them!

So go check it out, let me know what you think – and remember more books are coming . . .
