Well it’s apparently “Hollywood is screwed” day . . . er week . . . or . . . well you get the idea.
This author points out some interesting factors on the genericization of heroes. There’s definitely a point here, though I’d say some elements are archetypical. No differentiation is a marketing problem . . .

This author things so, and I think it’s a point well-made. They are blending into each other an awful lot.
For those of us working in writing and media, perhaps this is another reminder of the need for differentiation.

Lone Ranger joins some other poor-performing films.
We’ve also had some real hits (Trek, etc.) and Despicable Me 2 did well (I would argue, personally, it quite deserved it). But it’s worth noting since we’ve been following a string of concerns about Hollywood potentially having a collapse.
