Job Basics: The Path

upward path stair

Last we met, we discussed how your  first goal should be, well, having a goal to get to. A job or position or career that you knew, understood, and knew enough to reach for. That gave you something to plan for and something to start doing right away.

So once you have a career goal in mind, as noted, you should research it and understand it. This lets you create a path to that goal.  Thats the next thing to explore in Job Basics

This may sound simple, but that simplicity is deceptive. It is easy to treat career paths as obvious, as ordained, or as something “everyone” knows. Real life, however, is filled with roundabouts, distractions, short cuts, and surprises. If it seems easy, there’s a good chance you don’t know what the hell you’re doing – or you’re very lucky.

Did D and D Inspire A Generation of Writers

The question is asked.

My answer?  Yes it did, but in two ways.

First, D&D was definitely an influence on creative people and writers.  That’s a given.

However, D&D also inspired other RPGs, which then inspired writing further.  D&D also inspired other inspirers as it were.

Frankly, I want to see more on this.  I think there’s a huge amount of things to explore in looking how the RPG and RPG like gaming scenes inspired fiction.

Direction Sign

Now as everyone knows, I’m big on certifications. They show skills, they force you to study, they look good on a resume because they show commitment and knowledge. I can say in my experience that having those extra letters after my name has been great for my career (and takes a lot of effort).

When I first started looking into the ITIL at my manager’s request, I wasn’t sure what it was. Later, I found it was extremely useful, very educational, and something I wish I’d know about earlier. I wanted to share my experiences because this might be something for you.

OK, look, stop surfing, I’m going to explain it.
