Why Do We Have Such A Creative Explosion on Mobile and DLC?

(I'm still thinking about DLC and mobile content as of late.  Blame my new Android.)

I sort through the DLC on my console and am amazed at what's there (and at times appalled, but mostly amazed).  I look through the online store on my smartphone and am overwhelmed with choices.  When it comes to books the content available to me, especially via eBooks is stunning.

It seems that, media, software, and gamewise we're in a kind of explosion of creativity and productivity.  There's just a huge amount of stuff everywhere – often good stuff – that we can download, play, read, or listen too.

Why Not Create Your Own Job?

You're not happy with your job.  You don't like what you do.  Worse, nothing out there in the job market that appeals to you.  The final kicker is that of all the jobs you've heard of none may appeal to you.  You've got all this energy and skills but nothing out there is what you want to do.

So let me suggest, my fellow progeek, that maybe it's time to invent an entirely new job.

Brilliance Unrealized

A strange thing holds us back at time – not a lack of good ideas for our careers, our art, our lives, but too many of them.

We run around trying to implement them all – and fail.  We worry over what idea to use, what technique to try, what code to develop – and get less done.  At time's we're just frustrated – at least when we had writer's block or other creative stagnation we weren't trying to decide between multiple good things.
